Update: Talking with Karen Koch
A tragic result for the Koch family. At least the uncertainty is over, and they don't have to wonder if their son/brother/husband might still be lost in the wilderness.
From the CBC British Columbia web site:
VANCOUVER – The body of missing American hiker David Koch has been found on Grouse Mountain. Koch, 36, was the subject of an intense search after he took the Skyride up Grouse Mountain and vanished. His body was found at the bottom of a gully. Initial reports say the body that may have washed down a waterfall during heavy rains on Sunday.
The anonymous hiker who found the body had been searching on his own in the area after rescue crews ended the official search on Sunday. Koch had been missing since May 25. He was last seen alive leaving the mountain lodge for a hike. Police say his death was definitely an accident. The family of David Koch issued a statement Tuesday afternoon thanking North Shore Rescue, North Vancouver RCMP, the media, and the many others that assisted in the search effort. They also asked to be left alone so they can grieve in private.
Scott Robarts describes two days with the searchers.
