More activity since my earlier post about PR's poor public perception. Shel Holtz suggests that Stephen Phenix's idea about licensing communications and PR folks has limitations. He says the idea falls apart when you try to test against a standard set of ideas. In public relations, the only limitation on strategy and tactics is your imagination.
Holtz, a former IABC international board member, doesn't seem to hold out a lot of hope for the power of professional accreditation, either. He adds: "Perhaps it’s time to drag out the licensing debate and hash through it one more time. Perhaps something good will come out of the discussion."
