Eric ... more and more I believe that social media will have a greater impact on internal communications than on external communications.

When I ask how people have benefited from blogging, most of the responses are related to personal improvements -- they feel their writing has gotten sharper, for example. Nobody has ever told me they've signed on two or three new clients from their blogs. Or that they have a better dialog with their clients because they are blogging.

That's one reason why I feel there is a disconnect. The experienced bloggers push the medium as a tool for consumer/client dialog, when in reality the biggest impact is probably in enhancing information sharing inside the company walls.
